Families seeking a new holiday tradition need look no further than the historic Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. The property’s Holiday Traditions are clearly focused on family bonding and fun, all the while lodging remains distinctly affordable.
Perched on the edge of the Delaware River, and peacefully secluded, Shawnee has been a treasured destination for over a century. With comfortable, amenity filled accommodations, families spending the holidays here will leave with lasting memories for years to come.
Shawnee’s Traditions begin on Thanksgiving and conclude with a Winter Carnival taking place on New Years Eve. During the holiday season, rates for overnight accommodations at the historic Inn start at $99 per night. Many of Shawnee’s Holiday Traditions are complimentary to attend, adding a special bonus for families choosing to celebrate the season at the resort.
The many special events are scheduled as part of “Shawnee Traditions,” such as the Holiday Lighting Ceremony from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25. The event will feature live music, caroling, hayrides, hot chocolate, cookies and more. Each weekend in December, the Shawnee Inn will host festive activities such as gingerbread house and ornament making in addition to caroling. “Breakfast with Santa” occurs on three consecutive Saturdays beginning Dec. 8, and “Holiday Tea” on three consecutive Sundays beginning Dec. 9.
Plus, the Shawnee Playhouse also will be performing, “Tiny Tim’s Christmas Carol,” throughout the season.
For the family fond of winter recreation, the Shawnee Inn is only minutes away from Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, which features 23 trails, two terrain parks and a snow tubing park. One quarter of the trails are geared for beginners, 50 percent for intermediate levels and the other quarter for expert skiers. Night skiing also is available.
