RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Shawnee on Delaware, Pa. (April 20, 2009) — GOLF Magazine and Golf.com have recognized The Tillinghast Golf Academy (TGA) at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort among the “top golf schools in the country that they recommend.”
PGA professional Jim Miller, director of instruction, leads the staff of five professional instructors at The Tillinghast Golf Academy. Lesson programs, which range from half-day to multi-day formats, are conducted on a 4-to-1 student to teacher ratio. The Academy also offers golf camps, individual instruction, as well as group lesson packages. All programs include full swing, short game, putting, fitness and on-course strategy.
Shawnee features three distinct nine-hole courses (Red, White and Blue), with 24 of the 27 holes located on a private island in the Delaware River. A.W. Tillinghast’s first-ever design was completed here in 1911 and served as the career springboard for one of the game’s greatest architects. Just adjacent to the golf academy is the lighted Tillinghast Approach Course, a nine-hole, par three layout. Access to the Approach Course, a perfect after-dinner activity for all family members, is complimentary to the resort’s overnight guests.
The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is conveniently located 70 miles from New York City, 100 miles from Philadelphia, 150 miles from Albany, N.Y. and 200 miles from Washington, D.C. Three airports – Lehigh Valley International, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Newark International – all are within easy distance of the property.
The resort features three dining establishments: the golf-themed Sam Snead’s Tavern, River Room Restaurant and The Bistro.
