Cleaning Up for a Cleaner Passage

The Delaware River is the longest undammed major waterway east of the Mississippi River.  It has been called a national treasure, was crossed by then General Washington, and is the source of endless recreation for the guests of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.  Our Wild and Scenic Delaware River is lined with several River Roads.  From its headwaters in Narrowsburg and Deposit, New York to the Delaware Bay – one need only travel a few kilometers from the riverbed to find a River Road.

Shawnee’s River Road lines an 11 mile stretch of the Delaware River between the Delaware Water Gap and Middle Smithfield Township – cutting through the Appalachian Mountain Range.  Half of River Road runs through the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

River Road provides it tenants with safe passage to paradise.  Among the many bucolic stops along River Road is The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.  For the past twelve years, we have been caretakers of our River Road by clearing it of litter.  Shawnee’s annual River Road Cleanup ensures that the beautiful natural paradise surrounding River Road is preserved in all of its magnificence.

Shawnee’s 2015 River Road Cleanup takes place on Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 am until 11:30 am.  This year’s cleanup is special because it will be the host event kicking off the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area’s 50th anniversary.

Volunteers are always welcomed.  Contact The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort 800-SHAWNEE for more details.
