Shawnee Opens for the Spring

Article by Jeromy Wo, Public Relations

The transition from winter to spring at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is astounding.  Each season boasts unique offerings that highlight Shawnee’s natural setting.  The spring time at Shawnee is special because the flora is green and the fauna has either woken from a deep winter slumber or returned from winter holiday in the south.  More than anything else, some of our most prized amenities open for the season.

Shawnee River Trips will be opening this weekend.  The gentle Delaware River is crisp and swift this time of year.  Soon the American Shad will be swimming north to spawn.  Words can’t explain the wonder of floating down our pristine and clear Delaware River and having the ability to see every pebble nestled on the riverbed.  Shawnee is the host to one of the Nation’s greatest treasures and a natural outdoor water park.

The McDade and Appalachian trails are clear and ready to hike.  During the next two weeks travelers of the trails have the opportunity to take advantage of the clearest views of the year.  The leaves are only starting to sprout along the mountainsides which extend the unique setting of complete unobstructed valley views.  The moderate temperatures of May contribute to an even greater hiking experience.

The Pocono Pony will be offering free shuttle rides to different access points along the McDade Trail and Delaware River on weekends starting Memorial Day.  This service allows our guests the opportunity to access distant trailheads and river put-ins with ease.  Shawnee hosts a pick-up and drop-off – making the Pocono Pony a convenient vessel for accessing The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort’s natural wonders.
