Well Know Performers Visit from the State of Michigan
on Tuesday, August 30th, 2005!
On Tuesday evening, August 30 th at 7PM, the
Benzie Community Chorus of Benzie County, Michigan will perform
on the lawn at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee on Delaware,
Pennsylvania as part of t the Shawnee Concert Series. The concert
will run rain or shine and admission is free.
The 55 voice choral ensemble, under the direction of Carolyn
Lalas, has been highly acclaimed both in the United States and
across Europe during extensive performance tours.
The BCC performs a variety of music, from classical
and sacred to music from the Broadway stage and the Big Band
Era. For its 2005 tour of the Midwest and Eastern United States
it will present a concert of the songs and sounds of both
Broadway and the Big Band Era, taken from its sold out -Cabaret
2005- season.
Andrew Lloyd Weber is the point of emphasis
for the BCC this season. From the long running "Cats"
and "Phantom of the Opera" to the lesser known "Aspects
of Love" a tapestry of songs has been created to take
the audience from one show to the next, as if walking up Broadway's
Theatre District.
The Big Band sound from the days when Duke
Ellington, Benny Goodman, Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey and Glenn
Miller were king, continues to be a favorite of audiences
everywhere. Songs such as Mood Indigo, Stompin' at the
Savoy, String of Pearls or the ever popular A Train
are presented by the BCC in a manner that memories come alive
and feet just won't stay still.
For over 25 years this vocal group
has entertained audiences in a dinner theater setting. Again in 2005
additional performance were added to accommodate ticket demand. The
BCC style CABARET performance has become the highpoint for annual
vacationers in that resort community on the shores of Lake Michigan
in Northwest Michigan.
