Kirkwood receives "Lord High Admiral"
Bushkill, PA : Bushkill Delaware River
Access. Tuesday, June 21, 2005 -- The Delaware River
Sojourn acknowledges a good neighbor annually and this year's
recipient is the Shawnee Resort owner, Mr. Charles Kirkwood.
The sojourn honored Mr. Kirkwood by presenting him a "Lord
High Admiral". Approximately 60 individuals camped out
on the front lawn of the Shawnee Inn on Monday night followed
by a night of a relaxing bonfire, traditional Indian rain
dancing and an early breakfast at the Inn. The crew regrouped
at the Bushkill River Access around 9:30am where a presentation
took place prior to their continued journey on the river.
National Park Service Superintendent John Donahue
introduced and bestowed upon Mr.
Kirkwood, the honorary title of "Lord High
Admiral" of the Delaware River Sojourn, Middle Delaware Cruise,
2005. The recognition is traditionally
conferred upon those who demonstrate
stewardship, vision and action on behalf of the Delaware River
and surrounding countryside. This
is the Sojourn's eleventh year.
