POOR GOLF ETIQUETTE

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Rob Howell, was playing an ordinary round of golf at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. He could not possibly have imagined the events that were soon to take place. Rob, who also happens to be the Director of Sales and Marketing for the resort, was preparing to tee off on the first hole of the Blue course. As he placed his ball on the tee, he heard a slight rustling a short distance away, and was soon to realize that the noise was coming from an approaching raccoon. The animal nonchalantly walked over to the tee box and knocked Rob's ball right off the tee. Apparently, every time he would put his ball on the tee, the raccoon would walk over and nock it off (talk about bad golf etiquette). This happened several times until Rob finally had to walk the raccoon over to the tree shaded area so that he could run back and hit his ball before the raccoon approached him again. Rob states, "the raccoon kept his distance if I walked towards him but he got close enough, it was one of the most bizarre things". The only conclusion that could be made is that maybe the raccoon thought it was an egg. Because they are nocturnal, it is unusual in itself to see a raccoon out in midday. It is even uncommon to see one acting this playfully. This is an experience that Rob will not soon forget.
