Celebrating 21 Years of Hot Air
Ballooning
The 20th Annual Shawnee Fall Festival was a huge
success! Over the three-day weekend, nearly 9,000 people
gathered at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort to enjoy the music,
crafters, entertainment and exciting balloon activity. We
are happy to announce that the 21 st Shawnee Annual Balloon Festival
will be on October 14, 15 and 16, 2005.
Along with the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, the
Shawnee Autumn Balloon Festival one of the key event sponsors
will be the Pocono Mountain Chamber of Commerce. This year marks
the 6th year of the joint venture and signifies our strong relationship
with the Chamber.
The annual festival has become the most anticipated
fall event in the Pocono's. Aside from the excitement and entertainment,
this three-day event certainly captures the area’s beautiful
scenery and splendid fall colors. Surrounded by the Appalachian
Mountains, Delaware River and Delaware Water Gap National Park,
the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort has proven to be the perfect
setting for an event of this type.
To complement the traditional hot air balloon rides, the yearly
celebration also features tethered balloon rides and the balloon
glow extravaganza (usually done on Friday) . In addition we will
have guest appearances by specialty shaped balloons ; last year
we had Chic-I-Boom, Chesty the Bulldog, Tuxedo and the Pepsi
balloon. On Friday the 14 th, the first night of the Balloon
Festival will be capped off with a fabulous fireworks display
over the Delaware River . To go along with all of these activities,
we will have live band performances and children's entertainment
including face painting, carnival rides, pig races and a petting
zoo .
Finally, when strolling through the
festival, do not forget to visit the craft tents and chow down
on the carnival food. Franklin Hill Vineyard will also have a booth
and during certain times of the event will provide fine wine tasting
sessions. As the date approaches we will have a more detailed schedule
of events. Please keep in mind that all of these events are weather
permitting.
