AN ECO-FRIENDLY FLEET OF 104
Shawnee on Delaware, PA – In addition
to the fresh grass, blooming spring flowers and abundant wildlife
at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, another nature-friendly item
can now be spotted on the property. Keeping with its vision and
attitude of maintaining an environmentally sensitive resort, the
Shawnee Inn is proud to introduce a brand new fleet of 104 electric
golf carts. Replacing the traditional gasoline-driven golf carts
of the past, this new fleet is battery operated, making them energy-efficient,
emission-free and extremely quiet. In combination with the natural
beauty of the surrounding area, these qualities make playing a
round of golf on Shawnee Island that much more an enjoyable experience.
Electric golf carts have become more and more popular in recent
years. Instead of combustion engines, these carts use electric
motors, which help state and local officials meet the air quality
standards under the Clean Air Act. The model of choice at Shawnee
is the hunter green 2006 Yamaha G-MAX 48V carts.
Yamaha’s whisper quiet 48-volt high-efficiency, shunt-wound
motor features an internal solid-state tachometer and produces
3.5 horsepower. The G-MAX 48V gets its power from reliable and
durable Trojan Batteries and comes equipped with features like
top-notch charge hold and superior output capacity. Even more so
than the technical advancements, Shawnee admires the carts’ assimilation
into the resort’s natural setting.
The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort holds the environment at the
top of its goals and visions for the future. This is evident as,
for the past two years, the resort has been the recipient of the “Save
our Planet” award for Poconos Travel & Tourism given
annually by the Environmental Committee of the Pocono Mountain
Chamber of Commerce. These honors come as a result of the resort’s
water conservancy efforts, Audubon program, and Rain Bird Irrigation
System (which efficiently saves and reuses water on the golf course).
In addition, Shawnee has been recognized for its recycling program,
which includes the use of a 10-yard container that collects around
2 tons of cardboard each month.
The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is proud and excited to add the
new fleet of golf carts to its list of eco-friendly efforts.
