Just the Tip of the Froster – Cupcake Challenge

Article by Jeromy Wo, Public Relations—Is everyone ready for CUPCAKES!  Shawnee is so very pleased to host the second annual Pocono Cupcake Challenge.  The Pocono Cupcake Challenge will take place from Noon to 4pm on Sunday, September 15, 2013.  There is no fee to attend the Pocono Cupcake Challenge.

We are wrapping up the cupcake entry process today and it looks like we are going to have over 100 varieties of cupcakes available the day of the Cupcake Challenge!  For a sneak peak, here are a few flavors from this year’s entries: Cannoli, Limóncello, Caramel Apple, and Gingerbread Cheesecake.  We can’t let too much out of the bag – but believe me – this is just the tip of the froster.

As long as the weather cooperates (the weather will cooperate!), the Pocono Cupcake Challenge will take place on the Grand Lawn of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.  The Cupcake Committee has so many activities planned for this year’s challenge.  Cupcake decorating, cupcake eating contests, lawn games, hay rides, maybe a cupcake in the face booth, and beer tastings (21+) are just a few of the day’s activity opportunities.  WNEP’s Raegan Medgie (MC Medgie) will be on-hand to introduce the day’s events and preside over the contests.

This year, our judges include Lily Fischer and Nima Etemadi from A Cupcake Wonderland and Ady Abreu from Ady Cakes.  All three of our judges were winners of the hit television show Cupcake Wars.

Although the event has not taken part yet, it is important to note that the Pocono Cupcake Challenge would not be possible without the hard work of all of the bakers who volunteer their time baking cupcakes and donating ingredients to the challenge, along with our judges and event sponsors.  The proceeds of the Pocono Cupcake Challenge will go to a wonderful cause in the United Way of Monroe County.

Thus far, event sponsors include:  WBRE, Saen Thai Cuisine, and The Perk Up Truck.
