Continuing Shawnee’s outstanding golf tradition, we officially launched the Tillinghast Golf Academy in June 2003.

Since then, PGA Professional, Joe Manley, the Director of Instruction, leads the professional staff at the Golf Academy. The Tillinghast Golf Academy is tailor made for those with keen interest in golf.

Juniors Play Free - Twilight Time

Juniors Play Free after 3pm with a paid adult during regular golf season. The Practice Facility opens in late April 2013 (weather permitting). Call 570.424.4000 x1480 for more information.

Rich in golf history, Shawnee boasts a long line of golfing greats who have played our course including: Walter Hagen, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Lawson Little, Long Jim Barnes, and Johnny Farrell.

Joseph W. Manley III, PGA

PGA Head Golf Professional

Joe graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a degree in Commercial Recreation and Leisure Services Management in 2002 and is entering his 11th year at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. After working as an Assistant Professional for his first three seasons, Joe was promoted to Head Professional in 2005 and was elected to membership in the PGA of America in 2010.

Geared for the serious golfer, with 15 hours of instruction, our students leave with a clear understanding of their golf swing and a plan for a lifetime of the legendary game of golf.

Prices are per person Midweek (Monday-Thursday) and Weekends (Friday-Sunday)

A credit card is required to guarantee golf instruction and reservation. 

Cancellation Policy

A credit card is required to book all golf instruction. No charges will be made on cancellations made 10 days prior to the date of the lesson. Any cancellations within 10 days of the lesson will receive a credit to rebook for another date(s) during the current season; in addition a $75 processing fee will be added to the bill for all Full-Day schools.

Weather Policy

During inclement weather, indoor space has been dedicated for instruction.
