How We Met...
Jamal and I met in
Luxembourg in the first week that
we were there. I was with some of
my teammates as was he and we were
at the local fair when we spotted
each other. I claim that Jamal couldn’t
keep his eyes off of me as he says
the same about me…….He
thought I was a gothic European girl,
that’s why he claims he was
staring!! For all of you who know
me, then you know I do not fit this
description!!!!
Jamal and I started dating that
next week and really enjoyed
each other from the start. Little
did we know that we would continue
dating after we returned to the
states and then one day get married,
but we are both still very happy
and very much in love :)
The
Engagement...
Date:
February 10th, 2007
Jamal
and I are not able to see
each
other very much during season
because we are at different
schools so we were playing
Clarion University on February
10 and Jamal had a bye this weekend
so he was able to come up for the weekend
while we were in nearby Clarion. Valentine’s
Day fell on a Wednesday this year and
we both had games that day so we decided
to celebrate V-Day this weekend while
we were up in Clarion. It was a regular
day in the life of basketball coaches
as it started off with a women’s
game and then we stayed to watch the
men play Clarion. My team was leaving
right after the game, but I stayed
another night with Jamal and Vader
in Clarion to celebrate with Jamal.
After the men’s
game we went
for a walk with Vader in the bitter
cold before returning to our hotel
room where flowers and
a teddy bear
were waiting for me. Freezing and all
bundled up from being outside, Jamal
got down on one knee and proposed.
It was perfect because we were
in an
unfamiliar place (nothing to do in
Clarion) so it
was unexpected and my
dog was present so it was
really cute.
