Juli
and Steve's
Wedding
Engagement
Story...
Juli
and
Steve
had
been
dating
for
quite
some
time,
and
the
subject
of
marriage
had
come
up
on
occasion.
Both
parties
agreed
that
it
was
the
next
logical
step
towards
solidifying
their
relationship.
Steve
had
acquired
a
ring,
but
the
problem
was:
how
to
present
it?
Was
it
too
cliché?
Would
it
work
with
their
schedule?
Would
she
see
it
coming?
Would
she
not
see
it
coming
and
express
her
dislike
for
his
choice
of
activity?
Basically,
he
wondered,
did
he
have
the
means
and
creativity
to
give
her
what
she
deserves?
These
questions
weighed
heavily
on
Steve’s
mind.
In
2004.
Steve,
a
musician,
had
a
job
in
Chesapeake,
Maryland.
Juli
had
decided
to
come
with
him
for
the
weekend.
In
searching
for
reasonable
accommodations,
they
came
across
a
Bed-and-
Breakfast
that
had
some
minor
reconstruction
tasks
to
finish.
Juli
and
Steve
happily
accepted
the
establishment’s
suite
for
the
evening.
Upon
arrival,
Steve
and
Juli
were
amazed
at
the
accommodations
that
were
provided
for
them;
they
had
great
June
weather,
a
beautiful
room,
and
a
picturesque
view
of
the
Chesapeake
Canal.
The
village-like
structure
of
the
town
even
reminded
them
of
their
displaced
Bavaria,
where
they
met.
Steve,
who
happened
to
have
the
ring
on
hand,
noticed
an
opportunity
that
stood
before
him.
It
was
perfect,
almost
divine;
yet
his
unsuspecting
self
had
failed
to
obtain
the
proper
permission
required
for
such
a
task.
So
as
Juli
left
his
presence
to
change
into
her
sun-worshipping
attire,
Steve
called
her
father
to
ask
for
his
approval.
Although
Steve
was
hoping
to
ask
Juli’s
father
in
person,
the
current
circumstances
had
presented
themselves
in
such
a
way
that,
if
they
were
planned,
they
would
never
be
replicated.
Steve’s
years
of
training
as
a
musician,
and
theatrical
performer,
did
nothing
to
help
him
on
this
endeavor.
He
saw
Juli
lazily
gazing
at
the
canal,
and
admired
the
serene
beauty
of
the
woman
with
whom
he
wished
to
spend
the
rest
of
his
life.
So
he
lumbered
towards
her,
plopped
down
on
one
knee
in
front
of
her,
and
made
some
almost
incomprehensible
utterances
towards
her
to
which
she
replied, “YES!”
And
they
spent
the
rest
of
the
night
on
the
canal
enjoying
the
sounds
of
an
extremely
talented
musical
group.
