The
Engagement
Date:
February 17, 2007
George
and Jodi were separated for six
months while he was studying Telecommunications
in Texas for the Air National Guard.
Jodi went to visit him the weekend
after Valentines Day, they met in
Dallas because it was a city that
neither of them had ever been to.
While
Jodi was on the plane traveling
to Texas, George called her
parents and asked their permission
to marry their daughter. The
second night of their visit
at the Dallas Grand Hyatt Regency,
George took Jodi to the hotel’s “Dome” restaurant,
which provided the highest and most
spectacular view of the city. The
restaurant rotated 360 degrees. He
secretly discussed his plans with
their waitress and asked her to come
back and take their picture when
the best view of the city was behind
them, she agreed. As the picture
was taken, the entire city of Dallas
lit up the night sky behind them.
Jodi went to sit down, and George
asked her to keep standing. It was
at that time, he told her that he
loved her, about the phone call that
was made to her parents, and he asked
her to marry him. Jodi was in a
state of shock, she was so surprised
and excited. She repeatedly said “oh
my God”,
and then said “of
course I will”.
It was the most memorable night
of both their lives.
