Friday, July 24, 2009 (Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania) – The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is in search of any Shawnee artifacts the community may have for its centennial celebration in 2011.
The year 1911 was when The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort was first opened to guests. The resort was originally called The Buckwood Inn and was only opened seasonally.
Shawnee’s Centennial committee hopes to create a museum of artifacts from the past hundred years to be located in the historic Inn.
“So many people in our area have a connection with Shawnee. Whether they worked here, visited, or lived in the village, I constantly receive emails and letters from people telling me stories about their experience with the Inn”, said Rob Howell, General Manager of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.
The committee is not only looking for tangible memorabilia, but also “remember when” stories that come up.
The early beginnings of what will soon be an extraordinary collection includes original plates, photographs, literature, and signage. For more information, please call Jeromy Wo, Public Relations Coordinator at: 570-424-4050 x1409 or e-mail: pr@shawneeinn.com.
