Tuesday March 18, 2008 (Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania) — Nestled between the Delaware River and Appalachian Mountains, The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is the premier destination in the Northeast. It is no wonder why the resort decided to integrate these blessings into Shawnee's way of life.
Each guest-room is decorated with a plant and river stones. These stones are a tribute to the Delaware River's soothing flow that delights Inn guests 365 days a year. River stones are smoothed down from being encapsulated in the river for thousands of years. As a finishing touch, each one is inscribed with an emotion that represents the range of feelings the river instills upon its onlookers.
As for the plants, all of them have a unique name and personality. For example, room 107 is home to Brad. "A single green houseplant (SGP) who seeks the same for a long-term relationship. Must like cool drinks, sunny days, and getting back to nature. Seedlings a possibility." There are 70 unique names and personalities each paired with a different plant.
Clinical research has indicated that being in the presence of plants can help with depression and loneliness, especially if one talks to their plants. Incorporating this research into the resort's décor is Rob Howell's way of ensuring that everyone is in great company.
Mr. Howell is the General Manager of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Examples of his creative thinking can be spotted all over the resort. For example, it was Rob's idea to offer guests blankets by the veranda and, instead of mint chocolate; guests receive a s'more cookie on their pillow at night.
Creativity is a strong suit of Howell's who has extensive theatre experience in both producing and acting. In addition, he has over seven years of direct hospitality marketing experience, which also requires an exceptional amount of vision and ingenuity.
Rob began marketing hotels in Chicago at a large hospitality corporation in 1991, where he eventually was promoted to Vice President of Marketing. In 1998 Mr. Howell joined the Shawnee family as the Director of Marketing and Sales. Finally, in 2006 he was became the General Manager of the resort. |
