Tuesday, July 8, 2008 (Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania) — A Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort staff member recently gained celebrity status as a cast member for Feebee's Hop n' Shop – a children's television show based in Easton, Pennsylvania and airing on Thursdays at 8:00 am and Fridays at 9:30 am on Blue Ridge Channel 13.
Amy J. Schaefer provides the singing voice for the show's main character Feebee, a kangaroo that runs a general store. As the Graphic and Web Administrator for The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, Amy has been flexing her creative muscle for several years. In addition, she is an accomplished singer and actress performing various roles for different productions and venues including The Shawnee Playhouse.
As a tribute to her character, Amy is volunteering her singing talents and receiving no compensation other than the peace of mind of knowing that she is bringing joy to the hearts of countless children across the area.
Feebee's Hop n' Shop spans many genres of children's shows ranging from puppetry, to animation and everything in between. Another aspect of the show that sets it apart from other traditional children's television are the topics that are covered.
Children learn about the Internet via Bartlett – a pear that is web savvy, the new food pyramid by Refri – a chef that happens to be a refrigerator, and mathematics from Reggie the cash register. Other topics cover friends, socializing, exercise, vocabulary and the Spanish language. All of these issues are presented to children in a new and fresh way that even includes original music.
